Scientists asked for help naming newly discovered moons

Thousands of Star Trek fans are campaigning to have one of Pluto’s newly discovered moons named ‘Vulcan’.

Scientists have asked for input when it comes to naming Pluto’s new moons. Vulcan is one of 21 names in the running in an online poll.  Vulcan is the name of Spock’s home planet in the Star Trek series.

William Shatner played Captain James T. Kirk in the science fiction series and thought Vulcan would be the ideal name for the moon.
